Blarney, Linda, and D Man

Mom and daddy came over on Friday to check on me after my PRK Eye Surgery, but the whole visit took place in my bedroom as I didn't feel I could get out of bed. Saturday I felt better and yesterday a little better still. I was still in bed for 90% of the day with my eyes closed though.

My eyes are good right after I wake up and for about a half hour, then they get blurrier and blurrier until I go to sleep again. I'm off today for President's Day and off tomorrow to recover. Hopefully by Wednesday I'll be able to get my seven hours of work in. I may go into our server room, which is pitch black, for a hour nap at lunchtime. I told the girls at work I would post a picture with my eye patches, but they are clear-so that wouldn't make a good picture. However, here's one of my stylish sunglasses that I wear even if the room has only a night light on in it. My hair looks gross! Blarney loves Dylan.

Happy Valentine's Day

I thought I'd post a picture of Blarney with his striking V-Day bandana.

My mom and MaryAnn would be so proud. Around Halloween, when Blarney got neutered, they put a candy corn bandana on him. He didn’t mind it and I thought it was very cute. I started looking around for bandanas and they sell dog ones for around $6 each. I was shopping with my mom and asked her if I bought a yard of fabric, if I could use pinking sheers and cut my own. Walmart had a few select fabric patterns (Valentines, St Patricks, and a few non holiday patterns) for $2 a yard and Christmas and fall ones on sale for $1 a yard. I used his existing bandana as a pattern and for $10 I was able to cut over 30 bandanas in 6 different patterns! Stay tuned throughout the year for more poses of Blarney with his new outfits.

PRK Eye Surgery

Many of you already know, but I am having PRK eye surgery on Friday. It is different from lasik. Lasik you make a flap with the outer layer of your eyeball, then remove the cells, and flip the flap back down. I guess the recovery is 1-3 days afterwards. My cornea is not thick enough, so they take the cells right off the top layer of my eye. They then put a "fake" contact lens on as a bandaid. I then have to wear eye patches until Tuesday when the take the bandaid contacts out. My friend Kelly had it done and said her vision was blurry for a few weeks. Wish me luck and say a prayer too!

Mark's mom's boyfriend sent this to me and I love it. It has nothing to do with Team Welch (those of you who have met Blarney will agree - he'd never be able to do this), but it's very cute. The first 30 seconds can be skipped as it's rather long.

How cool (let me rephrase...) How hot is this!

Slow news weekend and week so far for Team Welch. My friend at work told me today that I had to post something because it had been a week since my last posting. So, here goes.

Our house is a split level, which means our half bath and family room is on a concrete slab. The water pipes for our half bath go underneath the slab and the water in that bath is always really cold! So, Mark did a little research and when our hot water tank blew up a month or so ago, he was going to put in a hot water on demand tankless water heat. It's not a tank, it's has some sort of heater so the water is always circulating through the pipes and is always hot. Well, our basement didn't allow for the on demand system, so Mark found a hot water circulator which can go on our regular hot water tank. Now, when we turn on the faucet, the water is instantly hot! It's a good thing.
