Tag - 6th picture

My cousin Ellie tagged me and since I didn't respond to her first tag (Sorry Ellie!) I didn't want to be two in the hole. The tag is to go to your 6th picture folder and post the 6th picture.

My 6th folder is the courtship folder with all Mark and my old pictures that we put together for the wedding DVD. This wasn't in the tag, but since there was no 6th picture, I opened the first folder-mine. Check out those two carpet colors-whew wee! I was bald.

Two years!

Mark's TV

Last week Mark got a new TV. Our old one was a 15-year old 27 inch box and the colors were getting pretty bad on it. I subscribe to the thank you points network which it tied to my citi bank credit card. They have a huge perks program, if you are interested, let me know because I get points for a referral. But, last year Mark and I had enough points to get a nice convection oven for free. This year's free purchase was Mark's new 40" flat LCD TV. It is really big and I was afraid it'd be too overwhelming for the room. However that was not the case, it looks pretty good in the room. Our satellite dish doesn't accept high-def, and it would cost $150 for them to upgrade it. I'm not willing to pay for that though. Our contract is up in 3 months and if we have to switch satellite companies, we will. We do get our local channels in high-def and it is worth the subscription cost (just note the installation cost). I never thought a TV could look so real! Mark is in love!

Am I the last person in the universe to notice that the lower space between the E and X in FedEx forms a right pointing arrow? Mark pointed (pun intended!) this out to me on a semi truck on the way home from our weekend vacation this past weekend.

Crystal pointed out that something funny is going on with my blog. On firefox's web browser (the one I use all the time) it looks fine. However, Internet Explorer (which toally sucks by the way) messed everything up. I am trying to re-build it.

Mark's great weekend - take 2

Mark and I were on vacation Friday and were heading down between Columbus and Cincinnati for a Renaissance Fair. On the way we stopped at the Jefferson outlet mall for some shopping for me. Unfortunately, I only got one sweater and a tee shirt – and Mark was the big winner. He spent a few hundred dollars and a right angle drill and three regular drills. I guess there is some new lithium ion battery technology and he just had to have some – so he bought 6. Mark was pretty well behaved at the outlet, not complaining too much and not wandering off more than a few times. He kept asking why there wasn’t a tool store or some guy stores at the mall. He found the Bose store and that kept him busy for a while. But then….the Ryobi store was the very last row and I didn’t know it was there. When he saw it, he almost did a back flip. I was glad he found it, and just wish he had found it sooner.

Denise told us about a little historic city, Lebanon OH. We went there and walked the whole town, checking out the old shops and old houses. We stopped at The Golden Lamb, Ohio's oldest hotel. 12 presidents have stayed there, including W. click the link and read about it - it's neat.

Mark has points from Holiday Inn, so we stayed there. We had a beautiful “executive” room on the top floor of the hotel, which had a special elevator to get up there. They had a board room up there with a balcony and a helicopter landing pad. The door to the boardroom was wide open so Mark and I snuck in there, it was so nice. Then we got to our room – very nice. The furniture in our room was way nicer than our bedroom furniture. I’ve never slept in a four post bed before.

Saturday morning we got up and hit the ren fair. It was a really nice 60 degree day so Mark was able to wear his full shirt chain mail shirt that Ray made him. Everywhere we went, he got double takes. There are a lot of people that dress up, so Mark wasn’t too out of the ordinary. Here’s a guy we met up with that made his own armor.


These guys were just fair guests like us.


The best part of the ren fairs is the joust – we saw all three of them that day. The knights were so great this year!! Full of charisma. there is a video at the bottom of this post

The queen and her court were dressed so beautifully. I made Mark go get his pic with the queen, and she asked him if was already a knight. Mark’s reply was “in training” Mark then went and got his pic with one of the knights who told him his armor was great.


It was great to get away for the weekend with Mark. We had a wonderful time. Blarney spent two nights at mom and daddy’s house and had a great time. He’s been sleeping pretty much since we brought him home.
