Saturday night out

Tonight, Mark and I went out to Stancato's (a local Italian restaurant) with my parents, Laura, Jeff and Dylan. Laura didn't have to work tonight so it was great to spend some time together as a family. Dylan was really good and ate his peas and rice cereal while we were eating. The piece of chicken that I got was as big as a dinner plate. I'll be eating that for the next three days.

First pedicure of the year

Marie and I get together pretty much every Thursday and have since we could drive. It's a great tradition and perfect timing towards the end of the week. It just so happens that Thursday is usually the best TV night (remember, this started with 90210 when we were in high school). We put a little twist on our Thursday this week - we went for pedicures! It was my first pedicure of the year and I really needed one! I went for this pretty blue color.

Vet

Blarney went to the vet on Tuesday for his first "adult" visit. $300 later I walked out of there. Since we have so many deer in our backyard, we had to switch his heartworm/flea combo treatment to a separate deer/flea tick medicine plus a second heartworm med. They had a special on the heartworm med, so I bought it through the vet. However, the flea/tick med is so much cheaper online, I decided to just get a Rx for that. Boy having a dog is expensive-no one really told me how much they really cost. He's worth it though!

Crazy busy weekend - Sunday

Today, Mark and I headed off to a Medieval Faire with his best friend Dave and his fiance Kelly. My friend Karin was going to come with us, but since the weather was supposed to be so bad, she ducked out. We got there a little later than usual and missed the first joust. I love the joust!! It also rained for the first hour and half that we were there. However, the rest of the day was really nice! It wasn't too hot, nor too humid. The ground was a little muddy in areas, but it was probably the nicest weather we've ever had in our faire trips. Usually it's scorching hot and so humid you can hardly breathe. I bought a few incense sticks and we ate lots of yummy foods. We had ice cream for dinner. It was great spending the whole day with Dave & Kelly. We talked about their upcoming wedding and their possible honeymoon to Africa for a safari. Kelly is very much an outdoors girls - much unlike me. For my honeymoon, we stayed at 5 different hotels in Ireland and I actually complained to Mark that one of them was only 4 stars. Again-very spoiled-to have stayed in 5-star hotels for the rest of our honeymoon. Kelly was saying that they have armed guards outside the tents they'd be sleeping in to keep the lions and other animals out!! Never would I even dream of doing that, but I can't wait to see their videos.

Since we were going to be gone all day, we dropped the GrandDog over at my parent's house for doggie-sitting. He was so tired when he got home, he fell right asleep and has been knocked out ever since.

Crazy busy weekend - Saturday

Saturday I woke up with Marie's fiance, Ray, coming over to help Mark do some electrical stuff in the garage. Mark has decided he needed to add 8 additional electrical outlets in our garage. Apparently he needs all of this power so he can power the space shuttle and light it's way to Mars.

Mom had given me some money for my 30th birthday and Mark didn't really buy me anything (although he did pay for my PRK eye surgery which was a few weeks after my b-day). So, I went to the jewelry store last weekend and picked out a new pair of diamond hoop earrings. While I was there, I had my eye on this garnet ring too. So, I got both of them! I am spoiled, I'll admit it. I got to wear the earrings out of the store last weekend, but the garnet ring had to be sized. I went and picked that up yesterday-I love it!! Also while we were there last weekend, I turned in my wedding ring for re-mounting and sizing. Since my weight loss, I had to have my ring sized several times. Due to the channel setting, the previous times I have had it sized, it's had to get more and more oval so the stones don't pop out. It was getting harder to get on and off due to the oval shape. So, when I went to pick it up today, they sized it to a 6 and I really needed a 6.5 or 6.75. It went on just fine, but I could NOT get the dang thing off! I was pulling and watching my finger turn purple. So, the lady comes over and sprays my finger with Windex and it slid right off. Very embarrassing! So, she puts the sizer thing on and that gets stuck too!! Then, she told me to put my ring back on. 3rd time for Windex! So, it's at the jeweler again and I won't get it until next week. It's amazing how a little polishing makes the ring look brand spanking new. They polished Mark's band and you'd think it was new. I can't wait to get it back. Fortunately, I've been wearing my wedding "something blue" ring that Mark gave me at our rehearsal dinner.

Anyway, since Ray was over here working, Marie and I had nothing to do. So, we went to a paint-your-own pottery studio. Blarney was in need a new water bowl, so she suggested having me paint one for him. It was a blast. She made a coffee cup. I'll post pictures when we pick up the stuff next weekend. We've done this pottery thing a few times before, it's such a blast!!

Then, Mark and I went out to dinner at a Thai place by my work. They also have Chinese too. Mark loves Chinese and I don't really like it, so we don't go out for that often. But mine was pretty good. Mark really enjoyed it.

Crazy busy weekend - Friday

Friday was a pretty laid back day at work. Both the bosses were out of town and my workload was miraculously low. I left work a little early to go to my friend Denise's house for a surprise birthday party for our 35-week pregnant friend Crystal. It's her second child so she hasn't had as much time for herself lately, chasing toddler Peyton around everywhere. So, Denise had this idea to put this "sprinkle" (mini shower, get it?) together for her. Denise is such a wonderful host! Marie happened to have Friday off, so she spend her afternoon shopping for last minute things and setting Denise's house up for the shower. Crystal walked in (for what she thought was just a dinner out with Denise and Marie) and saw all of us there. She was very surprised, and we were very happy to surprise her. Here's a few pics. Our friend Karin (and her mom) came, but left before we took this picture.




I also took a video of Crystal reading aloud a card that Denise's 14 year-old daughter, Alli, wrote to Crystal.

Indians game

I'm kind-of behind on my posting, but here's a picture from an Indians game I went to with my girlfriends a few weeks ago. They lost (pretty badly too) and it was pouring by the 8th inning! It was a blast though - I always have fun with the girlies!

Busy doing nothing

Okay, I’m getting yelled at for not posting anything. I’ve been really busy, but haven’t really been doing anything to write about. Poor Laur had to work Friday Saturday and Sunday nights! So, we decided to have a cook-out at my house on Thursday night to celebrate. Mark, Daddy, and I went to the Independence City fireworks – which rocked! They usually make the nightly news because they are so good. Friday, Mark and I just worked around the house until I had to go pick up Dylan for the night. He was a dream-ate like a champ, never fussed, and slept through the night. Saturday, he refused to nap and was kind of crabby. When I got home around 6:30, Mark and I turned around and went to Mayfield City’s fireworks with Mark’s dad and stepmother. Sunday, we went to Mark’s moms. Aidan was so great. He was a big burst of energy and ran around like a crazy person all day. Then, I went to yet another city's fireworks-Bedford. There was some great people watching, let me tell you! Marie and I could hardly watch the sky there was so much going on. A group of 4 early 20 year old girls were sitting a few feet in front of us, and all of a sudden, they jump up and scream. Next thing we know, a poor little bunny rabbit goes hopping through the lawn as fast as lightening. Hopefully he found a good place to hide! Monday, Blarney and I went to my parents for dinner. That’s about all we’ve been up to. I'm about 4 loads of laundry behind and a half sink full of dishes to do - hope things calm down soon so I can catch up..and soon. Hopefully something more exciting will happen before two more weeks pass with no blog posts.
